A few weeks ago, we posted a poll asking folks to tell us which area they preferred – Celebration or Horizon West, and the results are in:
We received 1013 votes and by a slight majority, Celebration was the preferred choice of 53% of those who responded.
If you’re wondering why it’s so close, there are a few reasons. Celebration has a direct connection to Disney. It is literally the town that Disney built, and lessons learned from that experience were instrumental in the development of the other ‘town that Disney built’, Golden Oak.
As the popularity of Celebration increased, so did the median price of homes which have led many to start looking for alternative neighborhoods. Enter Horizon West. It’s important to note that Horizon West is not a “town” – it’s an unincorporated area that encompasses parts of Winter Garden and Windermere. It’s ‘downtown area’, called Hamlin, is very popular with a great variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Given its proximity to Disney (just as close as Celebration), it has become a real alternative for those who want to be close to the parks, but find homes in Celebration out of their budget.
We started following you @ a year or so ago when our son and his family relocated here from CA. We made the move the end of June and moved into our house in Winter Garden July 1st. Disappointed that we couldn’t immediately purchase our AP’s but hoping that will be coming soon. Your shows have helped us feel familiar with the areas and part of a huge family since so many are doing the same thing. Love your broadcasts and hope to run into all of you guys one of these days.
