Orlando is diverse in so many ways! We spend a lot of time talking about the housing market and the various living opportunities around Central Florida. That being said – something that hasn’t come up in a while is Orlando’s livability for those seeking a 55+ community! There are quite a few dedicated communities for those over 55, spread across Orlando! We dove in deep and located a few of these communities around the area to share with you! First – let’s dive into the attractive aspects of a 55+ community!
What makes a 55+ Community appealing?
55+ Communities have long had a stigma of just being a place for those of age to live among those in a similar age group. Yes – this is true, but this also comes with various communities tailored to different appreciations. Some communities offer amenities for active 55+, some offer amenities for those seeking specific sports like Golf, and there is a wide array of price and home-style ranges for those thinking ‘How much will this cost me!?’
What about future needs? These communities often are forward-thinking about something that we will all have to deal with at some point in our lives – age itself and the changes in our lives that come along with it! I try not to think about it, but we all will have to deal with it at some point! Young at heart, or Young physically! Physical age is not discriminatory for most people and will hit all of us at some point. These communities often think about accessibility, ease of travel, safety, convenience, or a mix of all of these things. They typically market floorplans that offer open footprints and throughways – without sacrificing style.
There are a lot of similarities when it comes to 55+ communities and other subdivisions not age restricted! So no – 55+ communities are not terribly different in some cases than any non-age-restricted community. They typically still offer pools, community events, lawn care, or some form of maintenance, amongst other great amenities – and are not just a place for us to live out the remainder of our lives!
